Son of Purpose
Letters of a Loving Father
Noah = Son of Purpose
In continuing with my mother’s letter-writing legacy, I have written the following letter to my deeply cherished son, Noah:
Noah, you are the son of my purpose and there are several reasons why I call you this. The first and most important reason is that your birth produced a significant purpose in my life. I witnessed your first breath, and from that very moment I realized that life was not just about me, but we were now responsible for the gift God gave us...packaged in all of who you were and would grow to become. Your existence has been one of the most positive influences on my life, and I thank God that I am your dad and know you as a person.
You are and forever will be a cherished son. Whenever you need me or your mother, we are only a phone call away from supporting the things that concern your life.
I want to take some time and share with you what I believe are your best traits, and what I desire for God to do in your life: You are one the most compassionate people I have ever met. (You received this attribute from your caring mother.) Never lose the desire to help others who need a kind word, your supporting presence, or a loving prayer—all of which you are capable of sharing. Remain humble because being a servant in the world makes you a great leader and not a mere follower.
I encourage you to always trust God, even when you have fears, because He will give you the courage to accomplish any task that is before you. I can’t even put into words how proud I am at how hard you have worked to graduate from high school and junior college; I hope you remember that this was just the starting line for the rest of your life. Continue to run with perseverance and strength the destined “race” that God has for you to run in life. When you get discouraged, take a deep breath and know that you will make it and be successful because Emmanuel-God is always with you.
My prayer is that you will continue to walk in your destiny and defy all the odds that the world would speak about your life. You have already defied their limiting odds, and I pray you will continue to. I see you as a peaceful and prosperous man that uses the wisdom that you have been given to lead in the world. I know you will someday find the love and support in a wife that I have found in your mother. I look forward to the day when the Lord blesses you with your own family to raise and cherish—many children for me and your mother to shower love upon.
There will be many souls you will meet and lead to the Lord with the gifts, love and relationships He has given you. I also pray that you and your family will experience protection. I pray you will do well in every pursuit in your life and have longevity in health and prosperity. I love you more than you could ever know, and I commit to supporting you as a parent should...until my final breath.
Being Noah’s Dad has taught me:
1. We can find purpose in serving others
2. Patience - never give up on people
3. Enjoy one another
